1995

Scream wasn’t designed to be quiet.

Michael and Janet appeared together in a futuristic short film directed by Mark Romanek: sharp, strange, playful, angry and completely unlike almost anything else on television at the time.

The reported cost: $7 million.

Guinness World Records listed it as the most expensive music video

and the film went on to receive an extraordinary eleven nominations at the MTV Video Music Award winning Best Dance Video, Best Choreography and Best Art Direction. While accepting the Dance Video award, Michael joked that the video had really been “an excuse to work with my sister Janet.” The following year, Scream won the Grammy Award for Best Music Video.

Impressive.

Historic.

Extremely expensive.

But at M77_A58 CODES we prefer another completely unofficial explanation:

$7 MILLION VIDEO.

WORLD RECORD: ✔️

BRO:JUST AN EXCUSE TO WORK WITH MY SIS.

Is that historically documented?

Absolutely not. Is it the sibling explanation we choose to enjoy?

Absolutely.
